The Str.Adella Shores, built 1894 at Gibraltar, Mich. was purchased by Capt. Samuel Neff & Sons on March 20, 1897. It was 195'x 37' and of 734 gross tons. In 1904 the Shores broke records as a lumber carrier when she brought one million feet of lumber from Ashland, Wis. for the John Schroeder Lumber Co. ,Milwaukee. After the death of Capt. Samuel Neff in 1904, the ownership of the Shores, and of the Sidney O.Neff passed to the older son,Sidney, and ownership of the steamer, Charles S.Neff to the younger son, Charles. The Shores was sold after the death of Sidney in 1907. It was lost in late April of 1909 on Lake Superior with its entire crew when crushed by ice during a Northeast gale.
