The wooden lake barge, O. J. Hale was built in 1874 at Trenton, Mich.; 326 gross tons; 138 x 26; former schooner. Purchased by Samuel Neff & Sons for the salt trade in June, 1900; rebuilt. Sold to Howard Transportation Co., Chicago, in 1902. Listed Ship Masters' Assoc. directory, 1903; Inland Lloyds Vessel Register.
