Sail scow, Charlie Crawford -largest of her type - was built in 1873 in Caseville, Mich., by and for her owner, P.J.Haynes, of Port Huron, to carry cedar poles and posts, and ties from the shores of Lake Huron to market. She rated 298 gross tons, was gunwale-built, and wore out with the trade after 25 or 30 years of service. Listed Ship Masters' Assoc. Directory, 1903.
