The Maggie Duncan, a lumber carrier, was operated by Capt. Samuel Neff and his son, Sidney O. Neff, from 1893 until 1896. The vessel was built in 1890 at Fort Howard, Wis.; 535 gross tons; 164 x 31. The Duncan was purchased on March 15, 1893 for $30,000 and sold on Feb. 6, 1896 for the same amount to Runnels & Sinclair. Often the Duncan with the other Neff boats, Sidney O. Neff and the City of Toledo as tows, carried cedar blocks to Chicago for paving the city's streets. Listed Ship Masters' Assoc. Dir. ,1903; Inland Lloyds Vessel Register,1893.
