- Wrecks of the News Boy and Blazing Star, Fisherman's Shoal, Lake Michigan, as seen in 1892. Outfit from the News Boy was salvaged by Samuel Neff & Sons in 1892 for $350. Charles S. Neff was present at the salvage work. The Blazing Star, a canal schooner of 265 tons, built 1873,Manitowoc, Wis. was wrecked in 1887. (Beers, History of the Great Lakes, Vol. 1, p. 797. The News Boy a schooner of 413 gr. tons, built 1862, East Saginaw, Mich., was wrecked in 1891; a former barque. Also listed Beers, p. 866.
