The iron barge, Transport; 254 x 45; built 1880. It foundered 21 Sept. 1942, Lake Superior, off Eagle Harbor, Mich. Loaded with pulpwood from Grand Marais, Minn. to Port Huron; with the barge City of St. Joseph, also lost; Roen S. S. Co., owners. Machinery saved and placed in former carferry, Maitland; all equipment was salvaged. See Beers, History of the Great Lakes, Vol. 1, p. 894, and Ship Masters'Assoc. Directory, 1903, Wreck data from Harold H.Neff file, Milwaukee Public Library. Note: Information under sketch might possibly refer to the Transport getting sand or gravel near beach at Two Hearted River, Mich.
