The Welcome, widely known in and around Milwaukee, was a familiar sight steaming in and out of the harbor for a tow, or warping a tow into a river berth or whistling for the city bridges, sliding smoothly by under the gaze of interested but impatient watchers of the "bridge up " procedure. Listed Beers, History of the Great Lakes, Vol. 1, p. 899; Inland Lloyds Vessel Register, 1893; various editions Ship Masters' Assoc. Directory, 1903,1909, 1914, etc.; built Sheboygan, Wis. 1890; 85 feet long by 20 wide.
