Part One described early lake-built ocean steamships, beginning about 1890. Part Two described the early"Fredrik- stad" standardized type of freighter built by lake yards for merchant fleets around 1916. Part Three listed the "War" Class of lakers ordered principally by Britain's Cunard Line, and mostly requisitioned by the United States Shipping Board when the United States Ventered the war in 1917.
