MAR + APR, 1979 Page 30 MEMBERSHIP NOTES Back in the Sep/Oct, 1978 issue, your editor gave you a report on his general health and a recent illness. At that time it apeared the problem was past and things would be normal. Alas, it was not to be. In November we has another mild heart attack, and were hospitalized again for additional tests. Indications were that open heart surgery was needed, and we were scheduled to have it on December 7th. On December 6th, the night before surgery, a final diagnostic x-ray was taken. It showed a spot on the lung which hadn't been there three weeks earlier. Surgery was delayed to see what the spot was. Turned out to be a tumor. . .just starting. . .which had to be removed. Surgery was re-scheduled for January 2nd. The tumor and a small part of the lung was removed. It turned out to be cancer. Thankfully, it was caught very early, all of it was removed, and we show no signs of further difficulty. The heart surgery which was originally scheduled has been called off, probably for good, because they feel it would be too much to take. Many of you knew about this, and we thank you for all the prayers. It seems they worked! We are also more grateful than you can ever know for the manner in which this was discovered. If it had gone another month or so no one can guess what might have been. Gordon Bugbee was the editor for this issue. We thank him. Next month, hopefully, we will be back in harness. With your continued prayers we know we will. Oh, yes. . .we've quit smoking! [a MEETING NOTICES Membership meetings are scheduled for March 30, 1979, and May 18, 1979.
