TELESCOPE Page 90 MEMBERSHIP NOTES e If expectations come true, the Dossin Museum and Belle Isle will be busy during the Republican National Convention, to be held in Detroit in early July. Members wishing to visit the Museum in that period would be wise to call first to be certain that security measures haven't closed areas off from the public. Already we know of one casualty: the Bob-Lo boats, Columbia and Ste. Claire will be used exclusively by delegates with credentials and the dock area is within the secured section from which the public will be excluded. MEETING NOTICES e Following the usual procedure, there will be no meeting in July. The Annual Dinner meeting will be held at the Detroit Boat Club on September 12. A special notice will be mailed to all members in the Detroit metro area. Those outside this area wishing reservation information may send us a self-addressed stamped envelope and the info will be sent to you. The subject of the program will be a one hour film detailing the salvage of the Sidney Smith following her sinking at Port Huron. Business meetings are scheduled for August 22 (early to avoid Labor Day weekend) and on October 24 (to avoid Halloween). Both meetings are at Dossin Museum at 8:00 pm, and all members are urged to attend. O CONTENTS e@ Membership Notes, Meeting Dates, Etc. 90 Steaming Through Time -- The Steamer Sylvania Paul C.
