Page 86 MEMBERSHIP NOTES Visitors viewing Miss Pepsi will notice that the windows have been tinted to protect the boat from the harmful sun rays. With the sun rising directly across the river during the winter months, the finish on Miss Pepsi dried out and also faded quickly. Due to the generosity of the Dossin family, the mylar screening was purchased and installed last spring. Now the newly-refinished Miss Pepsi will enthrall visitors well into future decades. A new book is available in the gift shop. Shipwreck! by David Swayze is a directory of over 3,700 shipwrecks on the Great Lakes. The alphabetical listing includes vessel statistics, where lost and a short description of the loss. The chapters at the end include shipwreck locations by state and an excellent bibliography for those interested in researching wrecks. Shipwreck! sells for $19.95 and those ordering by mail should include $3.50 for UPS postage. MEETING NOTICES • We still anticipate hosting entertainment meetings on the third Saturdays of November, January, March and May at the Dossin Museum. When the financial status of the museum is finalized, we will print the list of scheduled speakers. Boland as she remained in lay-up since 1984. The news that she would be out this spring was welcomed around the lakes. This photo was taken by Rod Burdick when the Boland was unloading coal at Marquette, MI. on April 23,1992. 86 by Gary Dewar 87 by Sterling Berry 92 by Alan Mann 96 Edited by Don Richards 100 108 Telescope is produced with assistance from the Dossin Great Lakes Museum, an agency of the Historical Department of the City of Detroit.
