Upperlake s CANADIAN TRANSFER made her first trip ever into Duluth/Superior with salt loaded in Goderich. After unloading she loaded taconite at Superior for Algoma Steel at the Soo. Then she made several trips into Marquette where she loaded taconite for Algoma Steel in the Soo. She loaded on November 15, 17, 19, 20, December 7, 9, 11, 12, 14 & 16. ... The Desgagnes tanker MARIA DESGAGNES ran aground in the St. Lawrence Seaway opposite Galop Island putting a hole in her starboard side. After being freed she proceeded to Prescott for repairs. Nov 12 ... A crewmen from the research vessel KIKI was found floating in the water near the ship and was pronounced dead at the scene. The KIKI was on her delivery trip from Pensacola, FL to Ashland, WI when they stopped in Oswego overnight. He was found when the crew woke up and he was missing.
