Page 3 RICHARD OSBORNE WALKER FEBRUARY 8, 1928 MARCH 29, 2000 Richard O. Walker, 12, of Fraser, died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, at his home, after a long illness of emphysema. Mr. Walker was born in Detroit, and spent many happy summers in Algonac, where he learned about the water and boats as he was growing up. Mr. Walker and his wife purchased Service Sales Industries in Detroit, his wife ran the company so he could have his dream of being Captain, and he worked for several owners of large yachts on the Great Lakes and took several boats to Florida for their owners. Mr. Walker had worked as a supervisor at Great Lakes Steel for 13yrs. He then owned Bay Marine in Boyne City, Michigan for 12yrs. He was on the Board of Directors of Great Lakes Maritime Institute, and served as president before his illness. Richard was an avid model ship builder and held a 100 gross ton United States Coast Guard License. He is survived by his wife Shirley, daughters, Aleen K. (Scott) Arbaugh Eureka, CA, Deborah L. (Thomas) Neidhamer, Boyne City, Ml, grandsons, Joshua, Graham, and Cameron Arbaugh, granddaughters, Megan, Kate and Ellie Neidhamer, one sister, Barbara Florian, W. VA. Four nieces and two nephews. A memorial gathering was held at the Faulmann & Walsh Golden Rule Funeral Home, 32814 Utica Rd., Fraser, Saturday, April 1, 2000 from 1pm till time of services at 4pm. with the Rev. Linda Dominik from Unity North Church officiating. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Lung Association or to the charity of your choice.
