He has been appointed assistant manager of the British Westinghouse Electric & Mfg. Co., Ltd., and has already entered upon the duties of his new position. Mr. Powell, who was one of the most popular men in the electrical business in the United States, is bound to be equally well liked in Great Britain. His headquarters are in the Westing- house building, Norfolk street, Strand, London, W. C. As usual a very heavy trade both foreign and domestic in air compressors and pneumatic tools is reported from the head- quarters of the Chicago' Pneumatic Tool Co. in Chicago. Busi- 'ness of this: company on: the Pacific coast has increased to such a degree that they have appointed on the coast a general western sales agent in the person of Mr. Henry Engels who is known to the pneumatic tool trade. Mr. Engles will have headquarters with Eccles & Smith, 91 Fremont street, San Francisco, who will con- tinue as representative of the company with Mr. Engels. Among concerns purchasing pneumatic tools from the Chicago com- pany recently are the following: Boston & Montana Consolidated Copper & Silver Ming..Co., Black Eagle, Mont.; Sharon Steel Hoop Co., Sharon, Pa.; American Beet Sugar Co., Oxnard, Cal.; Buscher & Gast, Chicago; Crerar, Adams & Co., Chicago; F. I. Hitherto there was one place in the world where a man could escape the newspapers and the cares of the day. 'That place was mid-ocean. Now, however, even that is gone. The ocean newspaper has made its appearance, the Cunard Line estab lishing one on the steamship Etruria and supplying it with news, via' wireless telegraph. The Cunard company was the first to recognize the importance of the Marconi system to the mer- cantile marine. and it follows naturally that the company should be the first to establish a newspaper on board ship. It is an interesting speculation as to whether a ship's crew in the future is to include an editorial staff and printing plant and whether it will issue a sticcession of screeching extras every few minutes during the day. At any rate the ocean newspaper will give the passengers something new to gossip about. Homeseekers' excursions by way of the Nickel Plate road. Ask nearest agent about them or address E. A.
