Probably in no other single way is the great prosperity that the country is now enjoying better reflected than tons, one 11,000 tons and seven of ican Ship Building Co., of which nine- them 12,000 tons. Nor is this all. Other contracts for vessels are pending. On the face of it it would appear by this table. This enormous equip- ment is called into being to meet the country's demand for iron. The pro- gram in itself provides work not only for the tens of thousands in the ship
