The steamer Saronic, of the Nozth- ern 'Navigation' Co.'s fleet, was dry docked at the yard of the Detroit Ship Building Co. this week for re- pairs 'to her wheel bearings. H.. The Racine Boat Manufacturing Co., Muskegon, Mich., has amended its bid for the construction of a tug for the use of the government engineer at Du- 'luth and has accordingly been awarded contract. The Toledo &:> Ohio Central ore dock at Toledo, recently made a rec- ord for that port. In unloading the steamer Philip Minch, 8,572 tons of ore were taken out in 13 hours and 5 minutes. "While entering the port of Buffalo this week the steamer James P. Walsh crashed into the Union liner Starucca, bending a number of plates and doing ~ other damage. The wooden steamer Oregon, which has recently been rebuilt into practi- cally a new boat: by the Milwaukee Dry Dock Co., has been sold by her owners, J. A. Calbick & Co., Chicago, fo J. W. "Squires, of Marine 1 City. The Oregon was sunk in the West Menominee river: two winters ago and was stthmerged for several months. The repairs amounted to $30,000. The Detroit & Buffalo Steamboat: Go. have: issued. a card 'to all ticket agesyts -directing them to advise pas- sengers that all rail tickets -reading via the Michigan Central, Grand Trunk or Wabash railroads between Detroit and Buffalo or Detroit 'and Niagara Falls Suspension bridge are available for transportation on the Detroit & Buffalo Line steamers in either direction. This convenient ar- rangement enables travelers between the' east arid the west to enjoy the delights of a cool lake and river ride and a comfortable night's rest enroute. Rail. tickets are also~ honored «for transportation on the Detroit & Cleveland steamers.
