Contains no dry nursing like other publications with sim- ilar titles. No other work can take its place. It is the only work of its kind. No master, mate or sailor should be without it. It will save you much anxiety and relieve you of much__ responsibility. It might be the means of keeping your boat off the rocks and the saving of dry dock bills. It is easily un- derstood and_ thor- oughly practical. Is correct both theoret- ically and practically. The Narine Review Cou s- Finder is a book that should in- terest eve.y master, mate and sailor on the Great Lakes. It should be particularly inter- esting on account of its great practical util- ity and the simple manner in which it can be used. It will be found to be the greatest help and aid to any man who is in command, or on whom the shaping and setting of courses devolves. It answers the same purpose on the small boat as on the large boat. In fact, it applies wherever lake navigation is ap- plicable. We send this book on approval to respon- sible parties. BOOK DEPARTMENT Penton Publishing Company, Cleveland, Ohio In conjunction with the Course' Finder there is a Deviation Log Book, . which gives all the _ river Tanges just as your compass should read if it were | correct. There are blank spaces after each range for recording the compass reading when on the range. This is all the data required for using the Course Finder. An auxiliary to this is a Deviation Diagram, the compass straightened out instead of circular. Every river range that conforms to a certain bearing by compass is printed over its equiv- alent line on the dia- gram, so that all that is necessary for getting a full deviation curve is to put lay off on the proper line how much your compass is "off" and draw. a_ curve through them.
