' The Wellin Quadrant Davit and the Lane & DeGroot 'Co. have consolidated under the title of the Welin Davit & Lane & DeGroot Co., 'Consolidated. The new company is capital- ized at $150,000 and the directors are John McMullen, A. P. Lundin, Ernest S. Suffern, John C. Silva, William Stevenson. The offi- cers of the consolidated company are: A. D. Applegate & Sons on a bid of $29,500 has been executed and the work is expected to begin at once. This new wharf is to be 700 feet long and the wharf proper will be 15 feet wide, but will be filled in between the river bank and the outer edge, thus making a landing about 180 feet wide. The city now has on hand something over $50,000 derived from a bond issue and with which the wharf will be built. Y., has just issued a little booklet de- scribing their patent hydraulic steerer. The steerer is intended for power as well as hand steering, and it is claimed that the change from one to the other can be made instantly. The rear pages of the catalog are devoted to the Queen City The Detroit Seamless Steel Tubes Co., De- troit, has just issued a very handsome little booklet concerning, the "Detroit"? hollow stay- bolt. This staybolt is made from the best grade of basic open-hearth steel. It is manu- factured by the seamless process in which the tube is rolled over various mandrels com- pressing and compiling the material from the inside as well as the outside, thereby giving the steel great density.
