Anchor in a line with the dock, in from 44 to 5 fathoms; or, if you wish to run alongside the dock, range it, and haul up. on either side, : To leave Presqu'ile harbor, crossing the reef in 12 feet water, run out. from the dock toward the Lighthouse, until you range the two first points of the coast, south of the harbor, outside, and the large white building, with the low sandy point, which has a small elump of trees on its extreme end: then haul up NbyE4H, keeping the point and house in range, until clear over the reef. 'To run out, bound to the southward, steer from the dock towards the Light- house, until the road is open from the Lighthouse across the penin- sula; then haul down ESE and run out; and to clear the lower end of the reef, bound to the eastward, shut in the large white house with the first wooded point on the starboard hand, and run out east. ee | : Bois Blanc light, fixed, visible 14 miles, on the north side of Bois Blanc Island, WN 94 miles from Mackinaw. From the SE end of the island to the Lighthouse, the shore is very bold. A good harbor can be made from NE to SE and south winds, by hauling round the Lighthouse point and into the bay, with the point bearing N}E, in 64 to 7 fathoms water, clay bottom. There is a patch of rock NE from the Lighthouse with 17 feet water on it 2 of a mile off. The point is bold, with 14 feet on the extreme end of it. Sheboygan light, fixed, varied by flashes, visible 11 miles, ¢ on the mainland, opposite Bois Blanc Island, entrance to the Straits of Michilimackinac, The middle ground bears from Sheboygan. Lighthouse NEDA 34 miles, with 15 feet water on it. Zella Shoal, 6 miles from the head of Round Island, sets off from Bois Blanc Island N WbyWiw, and has 10 feet on the
