The base coverage is dated 1896, with additions inserted in the front for 1897, 1898 and 1899. The cover date is 1899. While George Scott is credited as compiler, he had died in 1893. Without taking any credit within the pages of the work, after that point the New Coast Pilot was edited by his widow, Sophia Scott.
