Light Houses and Buoys Standing up the Main or East Channel. - Southwest gales of any duration lower the water in Detroit river from 1 to 3 feet, and northeast gales raise it about as much. Current from 1 to 24.miles per hour. Until the Lime-kilns have been crossed, this chan- nel is in Canadian waters. Sailing Directions.--Passing either side of Detroit River light- house, bring Bois Blanc light-house (Canadian) to bear N. by E., and run for it on that bearing until within two miles of it (passing to the eastward of Bar Point Shoal light-vessel), when steer for the private range lights at Amherstburg until abreast of Bois Blanc Island light- house. Follow the east shore of Bois Blanc island until on with the Bois Blanc range, consisting of two towers 450 feet apart on Bois Blanc island. A red light is shown' from the south tower and a white light from the north one. This range leads to lower end of Lime-kiln cut, and - intersects with Lime-kiln range on Canadian shore, leading fair through the cut. There are two small light-vessels on the west side of this cut, marking the north and south ends of the same. From the Lime-kilns steer for the Grosse Isle South Channel range until it intersects with the Grosse Isle North Channel range; then steer on that range until abreast of Mamajuda Front light; then steer N.4 W. until on the range of Mamajuda Front light and Mamajuda light, and run on that range past Grassy island, until upper end of Fighting island is reached; when steer up river in mid-channel. Bar Point Light-vessel, No. 59.--Moored in about 15 'eet of water off Bar Point shoal, about 14 miles to the southward and west- -- ward of Bar point, and 600 feet to the westward of a line drawn from Bois Blane (Canadian) light to Detroit River (Bar Point) light-house; and shows from the foremast head a group of three fixed white lens- lantern lights. The focal plane of the light is 40 feet above lake level, and visible on a clear night 13 miles. | The vessel has two masts, schooner rigged, no bowsprit. Circular black cagework day-mark at foremast head, and small black smokestack and fog signal between masts. Hull black, with "No. 59 Bar Point Shoal" in white letters and figures on each side. | , The fog signal is a 6-inch steam whistle, and during thick, foggy weather sounds blasts of 10 seconds' duration followed by silent interval of 30 seconds, thus: Silent : Silent Blast, interval, Blast, interval, | 10 sec. 30 sec. 10 sec. 30 sec, Bois Blane (Canadian) light, N. by E. 4 E., 3x5 miles. Bar Point light, S. 2 W., 23 miles, : BOIS BLANC, OR AMHERSTBURG LIGHT-STA- TION.--A fixed white light, visible 14 miles. White, circular stone tower, 40 feet high, light 56 feet above lake level.
