DETROIT RIVER. _ 0 Rear Light.--A fixed white lens-lantern light on a mast with day beacon attached, 375 feet N. 4 W., from light on bank above Texas dock; maintained by Duff & Galfield, pilots, at the head of dredged channel, ° Fighting Island.--A red spar buoy in 93 feet of water stands on the east side of channel, and marks the outer edge of the bank, at lower end of Fighting island; soft bottom; deep water close-to. The edge of the bank, for a quarter mile above and below the buoy, is nearly straight, trending about N. by W. and S. by E., then curves to the eastward. Mamajuda light-house, N. W., 14 miles, Grosse Isle North Channel Range Lights.--Two fixed whitelens-lanternlights. Front light 45, and rear light 75 feet above mean -- level of the river. Lights shown from brown square pyramidal open framework; lower with small white house with red roof, at its base; . surmounted by a white octagonal lantern with black roof. The Front Tower stands on a pile platform in 34 feet of water, 'about 175 feet from easterly shore line of Grosse isle, nearly abreast of the south end of Fighting island. . The Rear,.Tower about 450 feet to the westward of the east shore : \ line of Grosse isle, and its lower part is obscured by trees. 'These lights illuminate an are of 90 degrees, lying between W. 8S. W. 3 W.and§. by E. £ E., or 60 degrees to eastward and 30 degrees to westward of range line. The range line marks the line of best water from its intersection with the line of Grosse Isle South Channel range up the river to a point from which the front light of Mamajuda range becomes visible, and bears W.3N. The range line passes about 750 feet to the eastward of Mamajuda light-house, or about 350 feet to the eastward of the 18-foot curve abreast of that light. Grosse Isle South Channel Range Lights.--Two fixed - white lens-lantern lights, shown from square white pyramidal inclosed wooden towers, with a gallery with black hand rail at the top of the square part, and surmounted by an octagonal lantern having three sides glazed and -acopper roof. Front tower 30 feet, and rear tower 50 feet high. The upper 25 feet of each tower is covered with white slats, and the lights are exhibited 14 feet below the tops of the structures. Front Light on crib at the north end of Grosse Isle. Mamajuda light-house, N. EK. by N. , Rear Light on crib 1,493 feet N. by W. 3 W. from the Front light. The range leads from the center of the Lime-kiln Crossing cut, and clears a small patch of bowlders a little above the cut. The range line is 150 feet to the westward of the Fort Malden Range lights, and intersects the range of Grassy island and Mamajuda Island lights lz miles below Mamajuda light. MAMAJUDA LIGHT-STATION.--A fixed red light, 4th order, visible 12 miles, White dwelling with low, square tower on top; pile foundation. Light, 32 feet above foundation. Station connected with with fishing-station, on north side, by a short footbridge. On Mamajuda shoal, west side of channel; 200 feet from channel, and 700 yards from the lower end of shoal. Goodwater within 60 feet of the small pile wharf abreast the light-house. Between this point and the upper Fighting Island buoy, the channel is one-quarter mile wide.
