The base coverage is dated 1904, with additions inserted in the front for 1905, 1906, 1907 and 1908. The cover date is 1908. While George Scott is credited as compiler, he had died in 1893. Without taking any credit within the pages of the work, after that point the New Coast Pilot was edited by his widow, Sophia Scott.
