LAKE ERIE, #1 The lower entrance is marked by the new Toledo Harbor Light- Station, one gas buoy and one second-class nun buoy. | | _ The lower entrance bears from Turtle island light-house E. 3 N. distant 234 miles, and can be approached from the eastward on any course between N. W. (by westward) and S. The course through this channel is (S. W. by W. % W.) S. 57° 45' W. Steer this course until up to buoy No. 16, then haul off on either side to pass the cribs and pile work. When up to buoy No. 20, get on the range again, and steer between the buoys until past Inner End of Channel Buoy No. 31. Off the outer entrance to Maumee Bay Straight Channel, about 400 feet northwesterly of the easterly prolongation of the axis, and about vg mile lakeward from Maumee Stright Channel Entrance Gas Buoy No. 1: Turtle island light-house, W. S. W. 7% W., about 3-5/16 miles. Monroe light-house, N. % W., about 9 miles. Maumee Straight Channel Entrance Gas Buoy (No. 1).--A black gas buoy in 17 feet of water; shows a fixed white light of 10 seconds duration, followed by an eclipse of 10 seconds. Marks the S. E. side of entrance to straight channel, Maumee Bay, and is placed 20 feet S. E. of straight line of bank of channel to allow for swinging. Maumee Bay Easterly Range Front light-house, S.
