GEORGIAN BAY, 127 Vessels entering Parry Sound will pass 600 feet S. of Seguin bank gas buoy, and steer about 2 miles E. N. E. % E. or until Snug Harbor range _ lights are in range and lead through the main channel. When 2 miles inside of Red Rock light-house the Jones island range lights should be brought in range, and the range followed closely to within 1,200 feet of Hooper island shoal gas buoy, then haul gradually to bring Spruce island shoal gas buoy ahead, bearing E. 3% S., and Hooper island shoal gas buoy astern. Pass 150 to 300 feet S. of Spruce island shoal gas buoy and head E. N. E. % E. for the center of Davy island. Give Carling rock a berth of 600 feet and steer E. 3% S. for Killbear Point just open N. of the North Sister island. Vessels between Red and Carling rocks should run at half speed. When the last island is passed Depot island light-house, bearing E. S. E., may be steered for. Depot island and Cadotte point should be given a berth of 300 feet in entering the harbor. DEPOT ISLAND LIGHT-STATION.--A fixed red light, 7th order, visible 10 miles. White, square, pyramidal wood tower; light 25 feet above lake level. On the westerly extremity of beach of Depot island, at the en- trance to Depot Harbor. The light covers an arc of about 180° from S. through E. to N. In entering, vessels should keep in the middle of the en- trance and steer up the middle of the harbor for the wharves at its easterly end. Lights on Railway Bridge.--Rose point swing bridge across South chan- nel, Parry sound, is marked at night by a light over the middle of the draw span. The light shows green up and down the channel when the draw is open, and red when the draw is closed. On top of swing a mast carries a 4-foot red and white ball. When bridge is open ball raised to top of mast, when closed ball is lowered. To pass bridge, steamers should stop at Sloop island or east point of Isabella island and give three long whistles. Main Channel Buoyage.--The main channel from Seguin bank to Cam- eron island will be marked by 17 spar buoys placed close to the channel side of every shoal. The positions, color, and number of the buoys are as follows: Extra heavy black buoy on McGowan shoal (Red Rock shoal). Extra heavy red buoy on Knight shoal. Black buoy W. N. W. of Three Star shoal. Red buoy on Three Star shoal. Black buoy on Vankoughnet ground. 6. Red btioy on Ariel rock. ?. Black buoy off Twin rock. 8 9 coe Red buoy on Hall reef. 9. Black buoy off Ardent rock. 10. Red buoy on Telegram rock. 11. Black buoy north of Lyon rock. 12. Red buoy north of Hooper island shoal. Later this may be re- placed by a gas buoy. 13. Black buoy on Nias island shoal. 14. Red buoy on Hooper island shoal. 15. Black buoy on west extremity of Carling rock shoal. 16. Red buoy west of Hugh rock. 17. Directions, Seguin Bank to Depot Harbor and Parry Sound by Main Channel.--The course and distance from the north point of Bear's Rump island to Seguin bank is E. % S., 44 miles. For a vessel from north channel of Lake Huron the course from midway between Squaw and Papoose islands is S. E. % E. and distance 55 miles.
