Superior Shoal.--A black gas buoy, showing a fixed white light during periods of 10 seconds separated by eclipses of 10 seconds' duration, has been substituted for the black spar formerly located in 111%4 feet of water on Superior shoal. Head of upper. rock opposite buoy W. % N. 4% mile. , ROCK ISLAND LIGHT STATION.--The color of this light on the north westerly point of Rock Island, south easterly side of the channel of the St. Lawrence River, at the head of "Narrows," has been changed from white to red. é LAKE ONTARIO. Standing along the south shore from St. Lawrence River to Wel- land Canal. CAPE VINCENT BREAKWATER LIGHT-STATION.--The struc- tures from which the lights are shown at this station, one 20 feet from the easterly end and the other 20 feet from the westerly end of the breakwater, have been remodeled and provided with inclosed lanterns. Each is a white, Square, one-story, inclosed, frame structure, surmounted by an octagonal lantern with black roof, ball ventilator, and surrounded by a black hand diet No change has been made in the characteristic or height of either ight. OAK ORCHARD LIGHT-STATION.--A fixed white lens-lantern . light, illuminating the entire horizon, has been established at this station a in place of the fourth-order light heretofore shown. NIAGARA RIVER RANGE LIGHTS.--Niagara-on-the-Lake. Front : Light.--Fixed red catoptric light, visible 7 miles in ,and over a small arc 7 on each side of the line of range. Light 30 feet above lake level. : . White square wooden tower with sloping sides, surmounted by a square, Iron lantern, painted red. On the Niagara Navigation Company's landing at Niagara-on-the-Lake, 30 feet back from the edge of wharf and 16 feet from its extreme southeast end.
