Green's was one of the premier business directories for the Great Lakes from its initial edition in 1909 as "Mitchell & Co.'s" directory, for whom Fred W. Green was an employee. The directory was edited by him for the next 41 years, until his death in 1949. The series was carried on by his wife Magdalene (M. E.) and daughter, Phyllis D. (P.D.) until 1965.
