The measurement of principal dimensions will be taken as follows: LENGTH. 2. The length to be taken from the forward side of the stem to the after side of the sternpost, measured on the deep load line, calculated at 2% inches of free- board to each foot moulded depth of hold. BREADTH. 3. The breadth to be taken at the widest part of the vessel outside of frames. DEPTH. 4. The depth to be the moulded depth taken from the upper side of the garboard strake to the upper side of the upper deck beam at midships, and mid- length in all vessels (except awning deck vessels). 5. In vessels fitted with awning decks, the depth for scantling requirements is to be taken from the top of the flat plate keel or garboard strake, to the under side of the deck next below the awning deck at midship and midlength except for equipment tonnage where it will be measured in accordance with the preceding paragraph. PROPORTIONS. 6. The proportions covered by the rules and tables are for vessels whose beam to length is not less than six or more than ten, and whose depth to length is not less than nine or more than sixteen.
