The FRONTENAC being Outfitted at Fort Frontenac, On Lake Ontario, 1678
Though the exact appearance of this vessel and the others which La Salle had built prior to the Griffin is doubtful, the location of the buildings in this scene and other details were obtained from an original plan of the place, made in 1680, and which is in the Public Archives, Ottawa.
