The LAFAYETTE COOKE
Built at Kingston in 1857 for the old Calvin fleet.
Model of a lake brigantine (Hermaphrodite brig) which was a common type of vessel in the inter lake trade during the middle of the last century. The centre boards and rather flat-bottom were peculiar to vessels using the Welland and St. Lawrence Canals.
