‘ bruary, 1919 THE MARINE REVIEW INSPECTION When you receive Rivet Sets, see that these. details of manufacturing have been followed: (1) Top of shank must be at a right angle to side of shank (3) also free of tool marks. If it is not, the plunger in air hammer will not hit squarely, causing the rivet set to bind in the gun barrel, and the tool marks will tend to ruin the face of plunger. s (2) Shank should be ground after hardening and be absolutely free from tool _ marks and scale. If it is not, the tool marks or scale, be it ever so fine, will soon cut the gun barrel and make it useless. ~ (3) Shank should not be smaller than 1.213" or larger than 1.217". If it is, it will rattle around in gun barrel or bind when heated. (4) Radius must be absolutely free of tool marks. If it is not, the tool marks will weaken the shank and be the starting place of a fracture. (5) Should be rounded. If it is not, it is liable to cut the user. (6) Body should be free from tool marks. If it is not, it will blister the Riveter’s hand, or wear out the leather guard faster than necessary. (7) Face should be parallel with top of shank. ROTHWEILER & CO. MANUFACTURERS SEATTLE, U.S. A.
