December, 1925 ... we are through with propulsion by steam” The following unsolicited letter from a recent purchaser is typical of the satisfaction always resulting from the selection of Nelseco Diesel: “Your wire inquiring if our new Ferry is for sale, received. The lines and construction and performance of this Ferry are so satis- factory that we could not entertain any proposition looking to the sale of this boat. “There exists practically no vibration while in operation and her average running speed is approximately ten miles per hour. “Fuel consumption is about one gallon per mile and lubricating oil scarcely one gallon per day, so that the cost of operating this machine of 180 BHP is substantially less than the cost of operat- ing the 65 HP steam engine in the Ferry formally on this route. “Our Nelseco in this Ferry has been in almost constant operation manoeuvering in Canal Locks and on our Ferry route on the St. Lawrence between Morristown, N. Y., and Brockville, Canada, and we know of no qualities essential to the successful operation of a Ferry but what are embodied in this machine. We are quite convinced that we are through with propulsion by steam. “Yours very truly, “BROCKVILLE & MORRISTOWN TRANS. Co., INC. “( Signed) F. L. Scott, Sec.” Nelseco engineers will be glad to discuss conversion with owners of steam vessels who wish to reduce operating costs and increase cargo capacity and profits. .
