8 MARINE REVIEW January, 1926 The Motor Driven Deck Winch Has Proved Its Ability ESTINGHOUSE motors on the deck winches of the four ships, Californian, Seekonk, Challenger and Wm. Penn, have handled more than half a million tons of cargo in ports of many countries. Operating records show that this tonnage was handled by native steve- dores, with ease and rapidity and with low upkeep and labor costs—fac- tors that are important in the eyes of marine men. The successful operation of these installations is an evidence of the ability of the Westinghouse Company to design and construct motors and con- trol to meet every marine requirement. Detailed descriptions and engineering information about Westinghouse motors and control will be supplied upon request to our nearest district office.
