Sanderson Dies One of New York’s best known ship- ping men Lloyd Bowen Sanderson, general manager of the Royal Mail Steam Navigation Co., 26 Broadway and senior partner in the firm of Sanderson and Son, died Oct. 24, at his home in New York in his sixty-first year. Radio Compass School A school for instruction in the op- eration and care of the radio compass was opened in Cleveland Nov. 3, in the Rockefeller building. All cap- tains, mates and other members of he personnel in the Great Lakes district are invited to attend the dem- onstrations and instruction. The school is sponsored by the Federal Tele- graph Co., San Francsiso. Six Carfloats Ordered American Brown Boveri Electric Corp. has been awarded a _ contract December, 1926 by the Reading company for six steel carfloats, two of these to be 250 feet long and the balance 200 feet. The molded beam of all these floats will be 34 feet 7 inches and the depth an even 9 feet. This contract is in addition to that recently received from the same company covering four single deck steel lighters which are now under construction. The new car- floats will be an important addition to the Reading company’s present fleet assigned to Philadelphia harbor service. All will be delivered com- plete within less than six months time.
