- Description
- This is a letter from my grandfather, addressed to my father and his brother, who were small boys at the time. My grandfather died in 1921, and his only daughter was born in 1917, so this letter (sadly undated) must be from between 1913 when the Noronic was launched and 1917 (or he would not have only addressed his 'boys'). My grandfather was a physician based in Detroit.
You can clearly see the Northern Navigation Co Ltd letterhead, and grandad mentions the 'Noronic News,' a picnic at Huronia Beach a few miles out of Sarnia, and the fact that he could have got a train to the "soo" rather than taking the ship.
