Boston July 21st 1840

Sir,

This will be handed you by Mr. Nathaniel Jenkins, whom I have sent on, by the instruction of Mr. Pleasanton, Fifth Auditor, to put a set of revolving lighting apparatus, in the light house at Presque Isle, under your superintendence.

Mr. Jenkins will have all the lighting apparatus with him, you will please advise him of the most ready way of getting to the Light house.

When the Light house is fitted up with the Lighting apparatus, Mr. Jenkins will require a certificate from some one authorized to give it, that the work has been done.

From Mackinac Mr. Jenkins, goes to Lyons, Michigan, to see Mr. Lyon the Superintendent of the Racine & New Buffalo Lighthouses, please direct him the best way to go there.
