Does anyone know when the Conneaut, OH to Port Dover, ON car ferry service was abandoned. George W Hilton in his book “The Great Lakes Carferries” states it was 1901. Would like know if that’s correct.

Black and white real photo postcard of Port Dover, Ontario. The fisheries protection steamer VIGILANT is in port. The lighthouse stands at the end of the pier. Several yachts can be seen in port, some with their awnings raised. Between the lighthouse and the stern of the VIGILANT is the unloading machinery for the Shenango coal dock that was on the other side of the main pier. There may also be a dredge or pile driver in that section of the image.
