Fleets greet new members... More new, high-efficiency Canadian-flagged vessels came to the Great Lakes from China-based shipyards in 2014. First was Algoma Central Corp.'s Algoma Harvester, christened at Hamilton, Ont., last July 17. At the beginning of 2015, CWB Marquis and CSL St.-Laurent arrived. They will begin service on the lakes and seaway in 2015, as will CWB Strongfield and CSL Welland.The CWB boats are owned by the Canadian Wheat Board and operated by Algoma Central Corp. The CSL vessels belong to Montreal-based Canada Steamship Lines. ...One to watch out for in mid-2015 is the rebuilt saltwater tanker Lalandia Swan, being con- verted in China to a Great Lakes/St. Lawrence Seaway self-unloader for Canada’s Lower Lakes Towing.
