6 Marine Historical Sorivty OF DETROIT THE DETROIT MARINE HISTORIAN Volume 3, No.9 May - June, 1950 * KOK KK OK OK ANNOUNCEMENT: On Saturday afternoon, June 3rd, our final meeting of the season will be held at the Fort Malden Museum, Amherstburg, where eur fellow member, Mr.David Botsford, will be our host. Thére will be the usual picnic lunch in the early evening. You are to bring your own sandwiches, coffee, etc. Cream and sugar will be provided. The meeting proper will convene in the Museum hall at 8:00 P.M. The attention of all members is called to the fact that at this meeting we have our annual election of officers. Ballots for this purpose are enclosed herewith. We wish all our members to vote. Those who cannot attend the June meeting, should mail their marg§ed ballots to the Secretary, Mr.Robert Zeleznik, 2015 Dime Building, Detroit 26, by May 3lst. The envelop should be plainly marked "Ballot." To avoid duplication, your named should be signed to it. Strict confidence will be kept in this regard. Those who attend the meeting may cast their ballots in the ballot box before the meeting. The speaker of the Evening, Mr.A.D.R.Fraser of Wifddsor, will read a paper entitled, "The Construction of the Livingstone Chan- nel." This topic is another opportunity for us to learn more about our River, and should appeal to all, especially since the Livingstone Channel is directly across the River from the Fort Malden Museum. Plan now to attend the Amherstburg meeting, and invite your friends. This gathering will bring together our Society and the members of the Algonquin Club. The speaker, Mr.Fraser has been an active manber of both groups. The Ashley & Dustin Line has invited members of our Soc- fety, and of the Detroit Historical Society, and City officials, to the first official cruise of the PUT IN BAY to Port Huron, Saturday, June 24th. The cost will be $1.00, instead of the usual $2.00. Details on the enclosed sheet. Also, we plan to have a get-together on the Bob Lo boat on Sunday, July =9, and another on the D.& C. Lake Erie cruise on Sunday, August <9. Plan to be with us on all three occasions. Robert A.Zeleznik, Secretary
