Marine Historical Society OF DETROIT THE DETROIT MARINE HISTORIAN Volume 4, No.2 October, 1950 * OK OK OK OK OK ANNOUNCEMENT : On Wednesday evening, October 18th, at 8 p.m., the second meeting of the current season will be held in the Conference Room of the Detroit News Building, 615 W.Lafayette. The highlight of the eve- ning's program will be marine movies and colér slides, to be presented by Jack Miller. Our Sgciety's illustrated programs have always been popular, and we are continuing them through this year. Mr.Miller's selection is the first of these. Let us all plan to attend, and to invite our friends. Our November meeting, to be heid on the 22nd, will consist of a paper by Dr.Neil Morrison, on the life and activities of Captain James Morrison of Port Arthur, prmaminent Canadian tug and salvage man. This applies to all members except those who have joined the Society since last March. Your prompt cooperation in this matter is necessary and will be deeply appreciated. Kenneth E.Smith, Treasurer OK OK OK OK OK OK ANNOUNCEMENT : The members of our Society have received a cordial invita- tion from Dr.R.H.Maybee, President of the Historical Society of Michi- gan, to attend that Society's ahnual meeting at the Dearborn Inn on Friday and Saturday, October 13 & 14th. At the banquet on Saturday evening, the program will honor the late Henry Ford as "The Industrial Historian." Reservations for the banquet may be placed with Dr.Lewis Beeson, State Office Building, Lanéing 13. It is hoped that the Marine Historical Society will be well represented at Dearborn.
