At our request the officers of the Pere Marquette Division of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad will present this program again. As always, our friends and guests are welcome. On January 24th, 1951, we will gather in the same place to hear "The Story of Mackinac Island" as told by one of our fellow members, Miss S.A.Poole. This 315 foot vessel is the last survivor of the Graham and Morton Line. The wooden tug JOHN ROEN (ex U.S.E.C.LAMONT) has been sold by Roen to the Clark Towing Co.of Milwaukee. The Clark tug WELCOME will be converted to Diesel drive soon. The second big Canddian tanker, the IMPERIAL REDWATER slid down the ways at Port Arthur early this month. The coastwise freighter NOOTKA ( ex CANADIAN ADVENTURER), a World War I "laker", has been sold by C.P.R. to Peruvian buyers. M.A.Hanna Co will augment their fleet in 1952 with a 690 foot Lorain built carrier. New additions to the fleet of visitors from Scandanavia recently were the TORSHOLM of the Bwedish American Line, and the Norwegian tramp steamers SAPHIR and OLE BRATT. Hutchinson has ecquired radar equipment for all its ships. Extentive winter repairs and alterations will be made on the HARRY L.FINDLAY (ex MATTHEW ANDREWS) and FAYETTE BROWN (ex CHARLES L. HUTCHINSON,i) at Spurgeon Bay, on the BUCKEYE (ex THOMAS BRITT, ex G.N. WILSON, ex EDWIN L.BOOTH, ex DAVID M.WHITNEY) at Bay City, and on the 0.S.McFARLAND (ex M.A.REEB, ex KENSINGTON) at Buffalo. Severe damage was incurred by the ENDERS M.VOORHEES and ELTON HOYT II (ex WILLIAM P.SNYDER) when these vessels collided in the western ehtrance of the Straits of Mackinac during the recent snowstorm. More than 100 canallers were held up at the Lachine Canal, due to a three day breakdown at one of the locks. The new tug CARPORT and her barge G-l passed Detroit recently on their maiden voyage, Chicago to New York City. EE Sees ea ke OE PIE
