Through merger with the Lake Erie and Detroit River Railroad, Pere Marquette acquired a line across lower western Ontario connecting Port Huron and Detroit with several Lake Erie ports. This line owned the car ferry INTERNATIONAL, built in 1872 at Fort Erie, Ont., a small open deck screw ship that resembled the present day Grand Trunk ferry HURON. In 1904 the road had the PERE MARQUETTE 14 built for river service by od the Detroit Dry Dock Co. Her dimensions are 327 x 52, and she is still in service as the reserve ship of the River fleet. This ship operated on the Detroit River between Detroit and Windsor, while the old INTER- NATIDNAL was brought up to Port Huron for service there. In 1927 the new PERE MARQUETTE 12, 372 x 53, came from the Mamitowoc yards. Another, the PERE MARQUETTE 10, similar in appearance, but slightly longer, joined th river line in 1946 Below is a list of these car rerries, arranged in numerical order, starting where we left off with the steamer list above: INTERNATIONAL 10 TTE 12 14 TTE 22 CITY OF SAGINAW 31 CITY OF FLINT 32 CITY OF MIDLAND 41 New vessel KOR KK KKK KOK OK KOK OK OK OK SHIPS THAT PERE MARQUETTE - NEVER D. at West Bay City (#20) Dimensions 350 x 30 freight cars on four tracks.
