Marine Ristorical Sorivty THE DETROIT MARINE HISTORIAN Volume 4, No.9 May-June, 1951 * KK KK *K ANNOUNCEMENT On Saturday, June 2nd, our final meeting of the season will be held at the Fort Malden Museum at Amherstburg, where our fellow mem- ber, Mr.David Botsford, will be our host. There will be the usual out- ing and picnic lunch in the afternoon and early evening. You are to bring your sandwiches, fruit, etc. Also it would be wise to fill the thermos with coffee, since in recent years our sizeable attendance has taxed the venerable Botsford urn beyond capacity. At a few minutes before 8:00 P.M. (E.S.T.) we will convene in the auditorium of Amherstburg High School, a very short distance from the Museum grounds, where our meeting proper will be staged. Our speaker will be Captain Earl McQueen, who will show movies of the champion tug ATOMIC. There will be pictures of the tugboat race as well as those of the ATOMIC'S ice breaking feats during the past winter. Those of us who have been priveleged to ses Capt McQueen's movies know that they are excellent, and recommend them to all. Come early and invite your friends and acquaintances. At this meeting also we will cast our ballots for the election of the four members of our Society's Aavisory Board. Ballots are enclosed herewith. They should either be cast at the meeting, or mailed to our Secretary before May 30th. At the Amherstburg meeting we will again be priveleged to have as our guests the members of the Algonquin Club. Last. year we extablished the custom of having the final meeting of both organizations a joint meeting. Both Societies have similar interests and objectives and a large over lap in membership. On S,turday, June 23rd, the members of our Society, together with the Detroit Historical Society, and the Steamship Historical S ciety of America, who are meeting in Detroit this year, will be guests of the first trip of the PUT IN BAY to Port Huron and return. The ship is reserved for these three groups and their guests only. Last year this project was highly enjoyed by all. Please send the enclosed coupon and money for your fare to our Secretary in sufficient time to enable him to mail your tickets to you. Your cooperation will be appreciated. Robert A.Zeleznik, Secretary.
