SHIPS The new freighter of the Hall of Canada fleet is the FRANKCLIFFE HALL, completed by Vickers, Ltd. in May. Another addition to this fleet is the LAWRENCECLIFFE HALL, ex VALBRUNA, ex GRANBY, ex FRANK A.AUGS- BURY, built in 1923. The JOHN H.PRICE wrecked last autumn in the Gulf of St. Lawrence has been raised and will bé converted into a motorship. The foronto harbor ferry TRILLIUM will be scrapped soon. The C-4 ocean ship ~ being converted for Hannsand will be ranamed JOSEPH H.THOMPSON- The new freighter undersoonetruation at Bay City for Great Lakes S.S.Co. will be named RICHARD W.MARSHALL- The Canadian tanker BRUCE HUDSON is now the COASTAL CLIFF. The new tug LIMESTONE of the Bradley fleet is now in ser- vice at Rogers City. The LAKE FARGE, a World War I "Laker" has been aban- doned at Philadelphia, and probably will be scrapped. The tug MILWAUKEE, (ex DEARBORN) has been sold for service on the New York State Barge Canal. The sidewheel steamer G.A.BOECKLING (i) is out of service at Sandusky and has been replaced by the smaller motorship G.A.BOECKLING (ii). The Coast Guard cutter TAHOMA, idle at Cleveland for several years, has been ordered to active duty on salt water. The dregde SAVANNAH has been sold for scrap by the U.S.Engineers Corps. The new freighters JOHNSTOWN and ELTON HOYT have reached the &akes. The J.L.MAUTHE was launched at the Rouge on June 21st. Socony Vacuum will add another tanker to its fleet this summer, a coast built vessel, about the size of the TRAVERSE CITY SOCONY. FOREIGN This season has witnessed a notable increase in foreign ships VESSELS on the Lakes. As of July lst, 60 trips had been made by 51 ships as against a total of 43 trips for the whole of last season. Some of the new ships are the LONDON, DESDEMONA, CLEOPATRA, CARSTEN WITT, FOLFINN, RYHOLM, BBRGHOLM, ELFRIEDE, MONICA SMITH, MANCHESTER EXPLORER, MANCHESTER PIONEER, LIND and HORNUM. This year and last the French Fabre Line has used chartered Scandanavian ships for its service to the Lakes from the Mediterranean.
