This meeting will be highlighted by a talk by Colonel Peter C. Hyzer, District Engineer of the Detroit District of the Corps of Engineers of the U.S.Army. Colonel Hyzer will discuss the projected channel and harbor improvements in preparation for the completion of the St.Lawrence Waterway, and will deal in special detail with the Detroit River, Amherstburg Channel and the St.Clair River. In addition two marine movies will be shown. Plan now to attend the November Meeting. As has been customary in recent years, no meeting is planned for December. However the December “Marine Historian" will be mailed to you in approximately a month. Information on the January meeting and subsequent ones will appear therein. Reoch Lr gen Ltd. has sold the canal size freighters GROVEDALE (ex p< a8 ASPENLEAF, ex CHANDLER, ex GLENDOAWN, ex TREGASTEL,ex ROBERT WALLACE) dna PARKDALE (ex BLANCHE HIND- MAN, ex PALMLEAF, ex CAMROSE, ex GLENARM, ex VUELETTES, ex S.N.PARENT) to Upper Lakes & St.Lawrence Trans Co. The latter company is also planning to build a large bulk freighter this winter at Port Weller Shipyards, said to be around 725 feet long. Another large bulk freighter will be built at River Rouge, measuring 729 ft in length. Columbia will operate her.
