Built in 1873 by Robertson Bros. at Hamilton for Crangle & Geddes, Toronto. Dimensions 137 x 23.6 x 13.5, 667 gross tons. In 1883 she was rebuilt by Allan Bros. at Port Dalhousie. New dimensions: 179.5 x 26 x 11, 901 g.t. On Octo- ber 1, 1887 she cleared Chicago for Montreal having a cargo of corn and pork, and 3 passengers and 22 in the crew. Early on Oct. 3 she ran into a heavy gale above Beaver Island, and while seeking shelter at the West entrance to the Straits she grounded on St.Helena Island. All cabins were washed off and 5 persons were drowned. The next year her hull was towed to Bay City, where she was rebailt into the steam barge EDWARD S. PEASE (US 136025) and shortly afterward was documented at Port Huron as being owned by Joslyn & Currie. Her dimensions then were listed as 168 x 26.4 x 11.6. In the years following she changed ownership several times, in in 1890 turned up in the Cleveland-Cliffs Fleet (See DMH.vol 8,no.4). In 1902 she was sold to Messrs Benham and others of Cleveland. Her end came on November 24, 1904, when she was completely destroyed bu fire while unloading coal at the Tannery Dock in Collingwood.
