At the Meeting of the Council on June 12th, the following offi- cers were elected for the coming year: Frank J.McAllister, President; William B.Mahoney, Vice President; Jack Goodrich Treasurer and Robert Zeleznik, Sec- retary. The first meeting of the 1957-1958 season will be held at Amherstburg on Saturday,September 14th. Mark the date now and plan to come. The schedule of meetings and programs for the rest of the coming season is being worked out presently, and we will have it completed or nearly so for release in the September "Detroit Marine Historian. Northwestern Mutual Life Insur- ance acquired three, which were chartered on long time basis to Wilson, i.e. RICHARD M.MARSHALL (since renamed JOSEPH S.WOOD), J.H.HILLMAN,JR and J.BUR- TON AYRES. Republic Steel acquired two GLSS ships and four former Wilson vessels, JOHN B.COWLE, FINLAND, SILVER BAY, VALLEY CAMP, ROBERT B.WALLACE and J.E.UPSON. T.dJ.McCarthy SS.Co acquired four small former GLSS ships from Wilson, i.e. DENMARK, SWEDEN, J.F.DURSTON and HURLBUT W.SMITH. The ~ latter have black hulls and regular McCarthy stack markings. Wilson is now operating all Republic's ships, i.e. the six named above and the GIRDLER, PATTON and WHITE. Northwestern Life's three ships are painted in Wilson colors. Wilson's new name is Wilson Marine Transit Co. emetrelee 6 6 6 6 The WALTER INKSTER has not been scrapped, but has been acquired by Ahearn interests end may be used in coastal service. LAKE CAPENS (ex WAR OTTER) has been removed from documentation at Philadelphia. Likely will be scrapped.
