Northwestern Mutual Life Insur- ance acquired three, which were chartered on long time basis to Wilson, i.e. RICHARD M.MARSHALL (since renamed JOSEPH S.WOOD), J.H.HILLMAN,JR and J.BUR- TON AYRES. Republic Steel acquired two GLSS ships and four former Wilson vessels, JOHN B.COWLE, FINLAND, SILVER BAY, VALLEY CAMP, ROBERT B.WALLACE and J.E.UPSON. T.dJ.McCarthy SS.Co acquired four small former GLSS ships from Wilson, i.e. DENMARK, SWEDEN, J.F.DURSTON and HURLBUT W.SMITH. The ~ latter have black hulls and regular McCarthy stack markings.
