She is owned by Northwestern Mutual Life In- surance Co. and will be operated by Columbia Steamship Division. The car ferry GRAND RAPIDS recently had new stacks installed at Milwaukee. Now stationed at the Cream City are the tugs INDIANA and CONNECTICUT, both recent- ly converted to diesel drive. The former Milwaukee tug ROGER (ex’ CONRAD STARKE) is now at Cleveland for conversion. The tug AUBREY is now part of the Gillen Towing & Wrecking Co fleet. The former Hutchinson barge MANILA is still lying on the Calumet River, South Chicago, near the shipyards. Two small steam launches are operating on the Kalamazoo River at Marshall, Michj- gan, between Jackson and Battle Creek, apparently carrying passengers. They have red stacks which emit plenty of smoke. The keel has been laia at River a la a new Interlake freighter, similar to the recently completed JOHN iS} WIN.
