On Jan. 8, 1929, she was sold to the Dominion Towing and Sal- vage Co., a subsidiary of Canada Steamship Co., who, on April 11, 1929, transferred her registry to Montreal, the home office, but she remained at Port Arthur where her registry was closed on May 3, 1941, with the notation,"Vessel vroken up, dismantled. W. R. Wiiliams the question arose as to whether the tug A. F. BOWMAN could rightly be considered as the same vessel rebuilt, in view of the considerable changes in hull dimens- ions, propulsion and Canadian registry number. Williams' correspondence with the Dominion Archivist and the Dominion Registrar of Shipping did not. clarify the matter either way. But in his correspondence with Capt. Franl_) E. Hamilton, Capt. Hamilton reports that the 1906 Inland Lloyds declares that the A. F. BOWMAN was rebuilt from the burned-out hull of the CITY OF PARRY SOUND, while the 1925 American Bureau of Shipping makes no mention of it. Thus the matter rests unless there is further evidence either way.
