HAROLD REA, HULL 176, was one of the first tankers to be built under the Canadian Vessel Construction Assistance Act. Costing $2.5 million, her capacity is 51,000 barrels and five different petroleum products can be carried simultaneously in her 10 tanks without possibility of intermixing. She can load at 6,500 barrels an hour and unload at 8,000. The tanker was built to Lloyd's highest class for freshwater and ocean-going service and was designed specifically to operate between the owning company's Sarnia, Ont., oil refinery and its marine terminals in Ontario and Quebec.
